Everything You Need To Know In A 48 Minute Package
The Knicks played the last basketball game at the Garden until next fall and if you had been trapped in a cave for the entire season you would have been able to judge just how well the season went by this game alone.
- Before the National Anthem was complete fans were yelling "Let's Go Rangers!" in support of the team keeping the Garden busy for the next few weeks.
- Stephon Marbury addressed the crowd before the game - “You guys stuck with us throughout the year,” Marbury, the Coney Island-born guard, said. “We know it was tough this year, not making the playoffs.” But, he assured the crowd, “There are better things to come.”
- Visiting Nets like Vince Carter and Jason Kidd were welcomed into the crowd's bosom with cheers greeting each component of Carter's triple-double.
- Eddy Curry missed the second half with a strained hamstring, joining the rest of the decent players on the Knicks on the bench. That's not quite true, Jamal Crawford made a bizarre 30 second return at the end of the third quarter. The Knicks played on with the fearsome fivesome of Mardy Collins, Steve Francis, Malik Rose, Channing Frye and Jared Jeffries with Nate Robinson, Jerome James and Randolph Morris filling in.
- The Knicks lost 104-95.
