We all know that Kevin McHale is an abomination of a general manager. He's made poor trades, offered bad players long-term, expensive contracts and generally wasted the best years of Kevin Garnett's life with his misguided ideas about how to run a basketball team.
We've always assumed that it was because he was fiscally irresponsible and/or a poor judge of talent. But is the real answer that he's a racist? Patrick Reusse of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune wonders if there isn't something to that idea.
The Wolves fired Dwane Casey, an energetic black fellow, as coach when he was 20-20. And now they are bringing back Wittman, clearly a Caucasian, who led the lads to a 12-30 charge down the stretch.
You'd think that years as a NBA player and executive would make McHale pretty comfortable around the black man but I guess you never can tell. He is the same guy who wouldn't pay Latrell Sprewell enough to feed his family and he has done everything in his power to make sure Garnett never finds success in the workplace. I'm predicting that he finally pulls the trigger on a Garnett trade and brings back J.J. Redick, Adam Morrison and the draft rights to Josh McRoberts. In all honesty we don't think McHale's a racist, we think he'd hire a horrible coach with no concern to race, religion, creed or sexual orientation. As long as he undermines the franchise McHale is color-blind. How else do you explain the Wally Szczerbiak trade?
