Every Generation Gets The Ledell Eackles They Deserve

I almost spit my Cocoa Puffs across the room this morning when I saw the name Ledell Eackles among the NCAA steals leaders in a sidebar column in this morning's New York Times. I figured he'd used up his eligibility sometime in the 80's before going onto a seven-year NBA career that culminated in a wikipedia page and the undying love of the Wizznutzz. But then I thought, perhaps Ledell had maintained a youthful visage and somehow convinced the coach and athletic director of Campbell University that he was, in fact, the son of the Bullet great. His references were a little out of date, he didn't have an Ipod but rocked Rhythm Nation on his Ghetto Blaster with much regularity and that prescription for Lipitor did seem odd for an 18-year old but he could ball and at Campbell do you got game is truly the end of all inquiries.
As you might have guessed it actually is his son, a 5'9" senior guard, who is fifth in the nation in steals. Junior is shorter and thinner than pop dukes, but lil' Ladell was blessed with the same lack of an honest to goodness neck although the chances he'll join his father on the NBA pension rolls one day seems pretty slim. He and the rest of the Camels take on Belmont in an Atlantic Sun conference showdown.
